Alberto Quoco began his career as a photographer in the seventies, a period in which he explored the vast expressive potential of the medium in fields as distinct as architecture and portraiture. However, his passion for dance subsequently lead him to experiment in dance photography and it is his images of dancing figures that have earned him particular critical and public acclaim.
“What I wish to achieve in the realm of dance photography, which remains somewhat underdeveloped here in Italy/ Friuli, is to render visible the myriad beauty of dance... Dance is exactly what exists between one photo and the next: a moment. The aim is to capture the point of equilibrium between space and time.”
During the course of his work as a dance photographer, Quoco has worked with dancers and dance companies of international acclaim, such as Beatrice Carbone, Mick Zeni, Maximiliano Guerra, Pina Bausch, Sylvie Guillem, Ballet de l’Opera National de Bordeaux and Momix.
